A Wanderer's Reflection

This journey brought me several realizations about education, diversity, and myself. Being able to witness the system of education of Thailand allowed me to pinpoint what is good and what should be improved. I cannot help but compare them to the Philippines especially in terms of their curriculum and resources but I will not say which is one is better because that's not how it works. There are things that work for them but not for the Philippines and things that work for us but not for Thailand. It's a matter of what works best for each country.

I am in awe to the amount of support their government provides for education. How I wish we have the equipment and devices that they have so we can elevate the instructions in our country. Reflecting upon it, having access to those resources should not be a privilege because learners deserve quality education. It should be a right. I am just really hoping that we could achieve their level of accessibility sooner than later. Imagine, students have their free snacks and lunch, and we all know how important it is to have something in your stomach as you go to class. Education should not be taken as a burden nor a problem, it should be seen as the opportunity to a better future. Kudos to Thailand, particularly Ban Pong Sanook, for implementing such program.

I cannot stress enough how grateful I am not just for being able to travel to Thailand but for having the opportunity to learn what I have learned for the four weeks I was there. This has been a life changing journey and surely an eye-opening experience.

This is Teacher Shai,
