Teaching Plan

Curriculum

Ban Pong Sanook School follows the Basic Education Core Curriculum, B.E. 2551 (A.D. 2008). This curriculum aims to enhance students in terms of physical strength, knowledge, and morality. Moreover, this gives teachers the freedom to their own teaching styles and methods. When I started planning for my demonstration teaching, I was able to do whatever I wanted. I had the freedom to design my own activities and how I want to teach my lesson.

When I asked a teacher in this school about the curriculum they use, he said that they don't follow any structure in designing their instructions. They do whatever they want, they do what they think is effective. This can be good or bad depending on the teacher. If the teacher is too reliant on the workbooks, the students will only learn what the textbooks contain. However, if the teacher wants the learners to acquire essential competency, they can implement any strategy to achieve that goal.

Teaching Plan

The very first thing I asked for when we were deployed was a copy of their lesson or teaching plan. My initial impression with their teaching plan was it was so simple and concise unlike the ones we usually craft which are detailed and jam packed with activities. I’ve reflected that their teaching plan can be advantageous if you already mastered all the contents of the workbooks, you can save time in writing all the details. However, for someone like me who is still learning, I think having a more detailed plan where I could visibly see the sequence of events in my lesson might be more helpful in guiding me with the lesson.

Nonetheless, this is something I could personally apply when I finally enter the field. I'm just collecting as many learnings as I could to prepare myself in the future.
